CANDLE SAFETY

1. Don’t burn the candle for too long

Never burn our candles for longer than 4 hours. When a candle is burned for too long, the wax becomes overheated which risks overheating and shattering the glass. Anther risk with burning a candle for too long is that the wax can reach its flash point temperature.

2. Keep the wick trimmed

A trimmed wick makes for better safety as well as more efficient burning; but don’t trim the wick too short. Natural fibre wicks that we use are self-trimming; but sometimes a black “cloud” occurs at the top of the wick. This unburned carbon should be timmed off.

3. Don’t burn the candle close to water sources, wet surfaces, or flammable items

None of these things mix! Water and hot wax react explosively.

4. Don’t use the candle if the glass has been broken

Check for cracks in the surface of the glass before you light the candle.

5. Make the first burn a good one

The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to melt all the way to the outer edge of the jar. This is a method that provides the cleanest burn and the longest burn time for your candle.
